australia, until a romantic interest in older music brought him to england in 1974 to study lute and classic guitar. his career as a performer (mainly lute and classic guitar), director and teacher has since taken him back around the world several times, and has led to many rewarding and interesting collaborations along the way. he is the musical director of two choirs in eastbourne (where he now lives), and of finland's leading early music festival, sastamala gregoriana. he teaches at westminster school and eastbourne college and was a tutor for many years at dartington summer school and singers. applicants may be male or female. please don't be intimidated by the impressive cvs of our tutors. they are all friendly people. speak to christine if you wish. the fee is £190.00 for the weekend, or by negotiation for less time than the full weekend. singers are requested to prepare in advance four songs to bring to the masterclass. duets can be included by arrangement. songs with lute, theorbo or guitar accompaniment are welcome, indeed encouraged, and provision will be made for separate rehearsal with michael fields before presenting to the group. the masterclass will commence at 7.00pm on the friday evening with each singer invited to present one song. these presentations will be tutored. the masterclass will consist of intensive work sessions of 15 minutes each singer, on saturday morning and afternoon, and sunday morning. singers are encouraged to learn from the masterclasses sessions of the other singers a concert will be presented on sunday afternoon at the wavell school at which each singer will perform to an audience of the other singers and guests. coffee, tea, light snacks, will be provided throughout the masterclass. sandwiches will be included at lunchtimes. a salad supper on the saturday will be provided. observers are welcome, by arrangement, at the final concert the masterclass will end at 4.00pm on the sunday. venue further details
